advanced extinguishing systems for:

Grimaldi ECO Malta

Grimaldi ECO Malta

Grimaldi opts for innovation and safety with advanced battery extinguishing system from FIFI4MARINE

Grimaldi, a leading cruise line in the Mediterranean, is taking a big step in sustainability and safety! To meet the strictest environmental requirements, eleven (11) of its ships are equipped with powerful Lithium Ion batteries, allowing them to enter and exit ports completely electrically. This greatly reduces emissions of CO2 and other harmful gases. Especially in a port, more of a cruise ship's power is expected. Both when docking the ship and leaving the dock. Once on the open sea, limited amount of fossil fuel can be consumed on a "cruise speed" basis.

The Grimaldi Malta is 183 metres long, 29 metres wide and has a service speed of 21 knots. The vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art, electronically controlled engines and an exhaust gas cleaning system to reduce sulphur and particulate emissions. Moreover, it can reduce emissions to zero during port stays. It can accommodate 560 passengers and has a garage capacity of 450 vehicles.

It uses electricity stored in megalithium ion batteries with a total capacity of 5MWh. These are charged during sailing by shaft generators and 350m2 of solar panels.

But innovation demands the highest safety standards. That is why Grimaldi's shipyard engaged FIFI4MARINE to equip these ships with a state-of-the-art extinguishing system.

This extinguishing system immediately detects possible fires in the batteries and immediately switches to extinguishing, reducing damage and allowing operations to resume quickly. It protects crew and passengers.

With this investment, Grimaldi underlines its commitment to a green future as well as maximum safety for its passengers and crew. Safe, sustainable and innovative - that's cruising with Grimaldi!

The Grimaldi Malta sails between Genoa and Livorno and Salerno Italy, and Valletta Malta, among others.
